Skier Lindsey Vonn is hoping to race on through the 2019 season with the aim of competing against male rivals in her final season. The American great has the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea as her main target as she thinks about retirement, but she still hopes to get the chance to race her male counterparts before calling time on her career.Vonn asked to compete against the men in 2012 at her favourite course - Lake Louise in Canada - but her request was turned down by the International Ski Federation (FIS). The 31-year-old has battled injuries over the last couple of seasons, but she bounced back to form in 2015-16 and clinched her eighth World Cup downhill title before being hurt again. The goal is definitely to make it to the next Olympics in South Korea in 2018, so thats two more seasons, Vonn said. But Im really hoping for three seasons, and Ill tell you why - its because, in my final season, I would like to race against the men in one race. Vonn won the World Cup downhill title last season Vonn concedes that she will be unable to compete much beyond 2018 because of the damage she has suffered, especially to her knees, in a series of high-speed crashes. But she remains hopeful that it will not be an injury that causes a premature end to her career.Eventually it will get to the point where, physically, there will only be one decision left to make. So I have to just be prepared for that. I just hope it doesnt come too soon. Also See: Sagan targets mountain title Farah: Medals the priority New England Patriots Store . Dallas hasnt ruled out the star quarterback for Sunday nights game against Philadelphia, but all signs point to Romos back injury pushing Kyle Orton into the starting role after two years of limited play as the backup. Tigers general manager?Al Avila said Tuesday that the team will shed payroll this offseason and that means hell listen to offers on any player currently on the roster.?Speaking on MLB Network, Avila said the Tigers no longer can sustain a level of spending that saw them dish out a club-record $200 million-plus in 2016.First baseman Miguel Cabrera, right-handers Justin Verlander and Jordan Zimmermann, outfielders Justin Upton and J.D. Martinez, and second baseman Ian Kinsler are among the Tigers players set to make at least $11 million in 2017.?At the very beginning, I said this may be a process that takes three winters, not just one winter, Avila said, according to MLB.com. Now people are like, Oh, they are going to trade everyone. No. I dont know who we are going to trade yet. We want to trade the right guys and certain things might take until next winter. ...The goal is to shed payroll and get better. Now, how do you do that? It may not aall be accomplished in one shot.dddddddddddd Its a process. Im going to keep on saying that. Its not a process you do in three months. Its one you do by changing the philosophy and way you go about it moving forward -- as opposed to every year going out and signing big-time free agents and trading away your prospects. Are there going to be good, viable trades out there? We will find out. If there are not, we will wait ... I think theres going to be interest in several of our players. I do. Its just a matter of where we go with those talks.A person familiar with the Tigers thinking told ESPNs Jerry Crasnick that while the Tigers will listen on some of their high-priced players, they think they have a chance to make a run in 2017 with a rotation of Verlander, Zimmermann, Michael Fulmer, Matt Boyd and Daniel Norris.?
