ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan?quarterback Wilton Speight didnt get the immediate beginning he wanted after winning a months-long quarterback competition to start under center for the No. 7 Wolverines.Speight threw an interception to?Hawaii defensive back Damien Packer?for an interception?on the first play of the season. After that, not much else went wrong for Speight or the Wolverines. The junior quarterback threw for 123 yards with three touchdowns to three different receivers as Michigan rolled up a 35-0 halftime lead. He finished 10-of-13 for 145 yards as the Wolverines cruised to a?63-3 victory.?While it took a full offseason for head coach Jim Harbaugh to publicly state his confidence in Speight as the starter, that faith didnt falter with the rocky start. Speight said the coach almost laughed when he made it to the sideline after throwing the interception.Obviously that wasnt the start I was imagining, Speight said. I was kind of rolling to our sideline and my momentum carried me right into Coach. He just grabbed me and held me and kind of starting laughing.Harbaugh said he was much more concerned with seeing how Speight would bounce back from his first major mistake of the year. Michigan started the following drive on its own 2-yard line, and the redshirt sophomore engineered a 98-yard touchdown drive capped off by a corner route pass to Grant Perry in the end zone that the coach said couldnt have been thrown any better. He responded in tremendous fashion, Harbaugh said. He had total command, and I think it bodes really well for our team and it bodes really well for his career.Three other quarterbacks --?Shane Morris, John OKorn and Alex Malzone?-- all played in the Wolverines blowout victory Saturday. Morris and OKorn completed all seven of their combined passing attempts for a total of 61 yards between them. Harbaugh said the competition among all the quarterbacks during August helped push each individual higher.Speight said he isnt sure exactly when he won the starting job, but he went into training camp with the confidence that it was his to lose. Harbaugh said he and the team had decided on Speight as their man last week, but the decision was not for public consumption before Saturdays first snap. You just kind of read body language and how practice is going and stuff like that, Speight said Aug. 23. I think guys will have a certain mindset going into the game. You just kind of feel it out.Speight played in six games as a backup last season, most notably leading a game-winning touchdown drive in the fourth quarter against Minnesota.Harbaugh also had opted to keep his starting quarterback private for last seasons opener, ultimately deciding to go with fifth-year senior Jake Rudock. He went on to throw for 3,017 yards and 20 touchdowns as Michigan won 10 games in Harbaughs first season as coach of his alma mater. In other news for the Wolverines, top running back DeVeon Smith left the game early with a midsection injury but should be ready for next weeks game against Central Florida. Harbaugh said it was a coachs decision not to play All-America cornerback Jourdan Lewis at all in the first game of the season because of a minor injury. Lewis was in full pads on the sideline and is also expected to return next week.Starting defensive linemen Bryan Mone and Taco Charlton, however, are more in doubt for next week. Mone, who missed all of last season with a broken leg, will get an MRI for an unspecified injury. Charlton injured an ankle Saturday. Fake Nike Air Max 97 . LOS ANGELES -- There was no win one for the Gipper speech, but everything else about the Miami Dolphins improbable 14-10 comeback victory over the Los Angeles Rams was pure Hollywood. There was drama, as an offense that had done almost nothing scored twice in the final 6:40. There was action, as wide receiver Jarvis Landry was pushed into the end zone as part of a massive 10-man scrum to finally get the Dolphins on the scoreboard. There was comedy, with teammates coming over to razz receiver DeVante Parker, who caught the game-winning touchdown with 36 seconds remaining, after he failed to intercept the Rams last-gasp chance at a Hail Mary pass. The only thing missing was a memorable rallying cry before the Dolphins took the field with 2:11 remaining trailing by three points.I wish there was, offensive lineman Sam Young said. Everyone was being very positive in the huddle. There was a real sense of calm, a real sense of confidence really. The Dolphins (6-4) have now won five games in a row, their longest winning streak since 2008, and done so under circumstances that could have come straight from a screenplay.Special teams provided the game-winning touchdown against the New York Jets, with an interception return for a touchdown by Kiko Alonso making the difference over the San Diego Chargers last week.Quarterback Ryan Tannehill got his chance Sunday to match what the special teams and defense had done in a game where they were the only reason the Dolphins even had a chance to conjure more late-game magic.Tannehill completed all five of his passes on the final drive for 53 yards, with Parker making a sprawling 9-yard reception to wrap a week spent in California with two wins. On the possession that preceded it, Tannehill was 7 of 8 passing for 62 yards and a touchdown. On the Dolphins other 11 drives, Tannehill was 12 of 21 for 57 yards with one interception.dddddddddddd.Hell of a job, Landry said. He did exactly what big-time players do, you know. They make the plays when it counts and he did that for us and he carried us to continue this winning streak we got going. Its something special. The same could be said of the makeshift offensive line that protected Tannehill on those final two drives. With left tackle Branden Albert (wrist) and center Mike Pouncey (hip) out, Laremy Tunsil had to slide over to replace Albert, Kraig Urbik taking over for Tunsil at guard and Anthony Steen snapping the ball. But Tunsil exited the game with a shoulder injury in the second quarter, forcing Young to step up at left tackle against one of the best defensive lines in the NFL.With the game on the line, that group kept Tannehill upright. When we needed time at the end to make some throws down the field, they were able to give me that and we were able to execute, Tannehill said.Dolphins coach Adam Gase couldnt even begin to process the unlikely turnaround, just shrugging and shaking his head when asked to explain what the offense was able to do on its two scoring drives.I dont even know, Gase said. Just nothing was going right for us. We were terrible on offense and just lucky that our defense played as hard as they could, sold out and tried to just keep us in the game.Tannehill said he never lost faith that the Dolphins could win the game, adding that It doesnt really matter how you get there as long as you get there. Not exactly catchy enough to make Robert Buckners script, but the Dolphins will take it.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
